Our fellow historian and Twitter enthusiast Thilo Specht from Frankfurt (big fan of frankfurters?) uncovered another Historical Tweet from the annals of time, from his fellow countryman Walter Ulbricht, head of state of the GDR during the 1960’s and 1970’s.

According to Specht, “On 13 August 1961, work began on what was to become the Berlin Wall, two months after Ulbricht had emphatically denied that there were such plans.”  Ulbricht thought this little RFP would go unnoticed.  Apparently, he thought wrong.

Thanks Thilo for your great find!  Twitter-Historians, send in your own Historical Tweet using our Photoshop template!

Do you have any suggestions for a high barrier with a length of round about 27 miles?
